Game Rules
1. Names
- Names must never include insults, hate speech, sexual or drug references, harassment, or otherwise offensive wording.
- Avoid names built from random letters or broken phrases, and do not reference staff titles such as ADM, GM, CM, or Tutor.
- Names linked to rule-breaking behaviour, real-world advertising, or promotions for external services are prohibited.
2. Statements
- Deliberately spreading misinformation that could damage the server's reputation or population is unacceptable.
- Statements targeting Tutors or staff members with insults or hostility are not permitted.
- Pretending to be part of the OldCores team, or implying official authority when you have none, is forbidden.
- Announcements promising "free items" or similar giveaways that mislead players are not allowed.
3. Bug Abuse
- Report obvious flaws in the game or our services instead of profiting from them.
- Intentionally leveraging weaknesses in systems or mechanics to gain an advantage is considered abuse.
4. Chat Channels
- The public chat channels with enforced rules are Advertising, Help, World Chat, and English Chat.
- Advertising may only be used to advertise trades of in-game items, buying or selling houses for in-game gold/items, and quest services. Intentionally using it for other purposes may result in a banishment.
- Help is not a general chat. It exists strictly for questions about OldCores and its game content (mechanics, quests, items, accounts, updates, and similar topics). Using it for other reasons may get you muted from the channel for an hour by a Tutor.
- World Chat is where you are free to chat about almost anything, except:
- Insulting, harassing, or racist statements. If you have personal problems with another player, deal with it in private. Harassing a player in World Chat will only put you in trouble, even if the other player has offended you in private. If you are lucky you might get away with a warning; if that isn't enough to make you stop, it will lead to a banishment.
- Sexually related statements. Keep in mind that children play OldCores too, so such statements will not be tolerated in public chat channels.
- English Chat follows the same rules as World Chat, with one additional rule: English only.
- Posting the same or highly similar messages repeatedly is treated as spam.
- Do not promote servers or communities that are not part of OldCores.
5. Block Places
- Blocking access to essential hubs such as boats or depots is not permitted.
- Blocking off any area for longer than 15 minutes is a serious abuse of a game weakness and may lead to a banishment of your account.
- Blocking quests to stop others from participating is forbidden unless it is clearly part of an active guild conflict and allowed by a GM.
- Note: during guild wars, teams may block off an area as a defense. Upon reports about players blocking off areas, a gamemaster will judge whether it is a battle defense or a violation of this rule.
6. Characters & Houses
- You are responsible for activity inside your house; rule violations by invited players can impact the owner as well.
- Running more than four characters from the same IP (for example, one main and three makers) is not allowed. Suspicious proxy usage may be reviewed by staff.
7. Gameplay
- Bots (third-party software that performs actions for you). Performing actions such as killing monsters or casting spells while being idle from the game is never tolerated. Using third-party software to control at least one character while you are logged into other characters always means you are idle on at least one of them, as you cannot actively play several characters at the same time. In such situations, all of the characters you are logged into are violating the rules.
- Note: it is not illegal to use a bot to assist your gameplay as long as you aren't idle from the game and it doesn't violate any other rule.
- Controlling multiple characters in PvP situations (red skull traps, combobot, magebomb). Using third-party software to gain an unfair advantage in a player versus player situation is strictly prohibited and may lead to an instant deletion of all accounts involved. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Using multiple characters to make someone get a black/red skull.
- Using multiple characters to organize a combo attack on a player.
- Using multiple characters to heal your character/team in a player versus player situation.
- Using depot spots to run gambling or "trust" games. Using up depot spots to run any kind of games, including casinos, is not allowed, to prevent depots from becoming full. Violating this rule results in a banishment of all your accounts.
- Note: you are allowed to run a casino in other areas, for example in a house. You should also avoid so-called "trust" games — they are usually demonstrated between friends to look real, but once you trust the player with valuable items, they will be stolen from you.
Any rule breach may result in staff-issued warnings, mutes, namelocks, temporary suspensions, permanent bans, or account deletion.
These rules may be changed at any time without prior notice. It is your responsibility to stay up to date with them.
